Saddlery
Saddlery is a term that includes all the gear needed for a horse. It can refer to a vast array of items such as saddles, stirrups, bridles and halters, reins, bits, harnesses, martingales, breastplates, etc. Another word that is synonymous to Saddlery is ?horse tack`, which also consists of all the accessories a horse wears while it is being kept or used as a domesticated animal. Saddles are seats that are placed on a horse`s back for a rider to sit on. They are secured on a horse with a girth or cinch. This is usually a wide strap that goes all the way around the horse. The saddle needs to be comfortable for both the rider and the horse. Extra equipment such as breastplates, breast collars, and breastgirths are sometimes used to prevent the saddle from sliding back. An additional part of this horse gear is the stirrup that is used to support a rider`s feet. They are also used to mount onto the horse. Also, bridles and halters are the straps that are tied onto a horse`s head, and are used to control the animal. They are attached to the reins, and a rider can communicate with the horse and control its movements. A ?bit` is another piece of equipment that is part of Saddlery. This is a piece of metal or rubber that is placed into a horse`s mouth. Other items that can be mentioned here include grazing muzzles (also known as a cribbing muzzle that is used to allow a horse to eat but not bite anything), horse toys, numnahs and safety wear, etc. All this Saddlery is used to make a horse ride safer and better. Also, this equipment is compulsory for horse owners, and is of immense importance for safety of both an owner and his or her horse.
